After
weeks of watching Congress fuss, fume and dither, who wouldn’t want to visit
Elkart, Ind.?Even if we
grant - a huge leap of faith - that our legislators have the good of the nation
at heart, their inability to listen to sound economic advice or to talk to one
another is discouraging. You would think
that dismal employment numbers would focus their attention.
But by now we should all recognize that the realities of life as actually
lived in these United States no longer have any place in these politicians’
hearts or minds. How else to explain Tom
Daschle’s shenanigans? Daschle, like the CEOs of the financial firms, not only came to
believe that the rules didn’t apply to him, but also, more tellingly, became
blind to how his actions would appear to the average American.
It had been way too long since he had had any contact with those kinds of
Americans. So, yes, President Obama, we
hope you enjoyed Elkhart and that you'll keep going to place like that to get a
dose of reality - and to continue the process of aiding Americans to take back
their country from the arrogant elites who have seized it for themselves over
the past 30 years.

The failure of the Bush Administration to properly supervise home loan
practices helped to create the current economic mess, even as the ex-president
boasted about record numbers of homeowners back in 2005-2006. And now we find
out that the Department of Health and Human Services was failing
to audit insurance companies issuing Medicare Part D policies - which
HHS is required to do by law - while Mr. Bush crowed about how his
administration had provided drug assistance to help seniors. The result?
Billions of dollars that was taken out of the paychecks of cash-strapped Social
Security recipients or out of the pockets of taxpayers. While 1 percent of all
Americans are in prison, you can bet the crooks who orchestrated this massive
fraud for some of the nation's largest insurance companies will never even be
charged. It is hideous, and it is unacceptable. We encourage you to contact your
congressional representatives and ask them to do more to tighten regulations
immediately and to seek full reimbursement from any company that wishes to
continue to do business with the government. And, what the heck, also ask them
to throw the bums in jail. Can't hurt to ask.
