People who take care of aging parents favor Barack Obama for president, according to a poll at AgingCare.com.
Some 48 percent of the respondents favored Obama, with 31.5 percent for John McCain and 18.5 percent still undecided.
But many caregivers appeared uncertain where the candidates stood on issues affecting them, and many respondents said neither candidate adequately addressed caregivers' needs, the site said.
"Some sort of universal health care is going to be a 'must' if we are to survive," one voter wrote. "This will have to include nursing home care. The Alzheimer's situation must be faced, not ignored, since it isn't going to go away."
Asked which candidate has a more positive position on various issues, respondents said:
Health coverage for the uninsured: Obama 53.5%; McCain 30%; 17% undecided.
Medicare/Medicaid policies: Obama 48.7%; McCain 31.6%; undecided 20.7%.
Unfair treatment of caregivers at work: Obama 46.5%; McCain 22.2%; undecided 33.8%.
Pay/compensation for caregivers: Obama 43.1%; McCain 23.1%; undecided
34.4%.
